49-7. Pierre Eich Solophone Orchestrion. This large and
impressive instrument is pictured in the Bowers Encyclopedia on
page 395, the bottom left photo, the instrument on the right
(that the fellow has his hand on). This exceptional orchestrion
has 102 pipes including Violin, Cello, Oboe, Clarinet and
Saxophone. It also has a tremolo effect. Perhaps equally
important, it has an unexcelled original library of 36 rolls.
This is one instrument that you will want to sit and listen to
for hours. Restored a number of years ago, it is now playing
weakly, perhaps due to the unusual weather conditions where it
is coming from in California (see - didn't think we could blame
something on El Nino did you?). A very fine addition to any
collection, and one of only a handful in the States. |

sounding machines when restored. We have just purchased this and
should have it by mid- January. We understand it was working
well 10 years ago but probably needs some rework now. Natural
oak finish. Takes the popular 148 rolls. Tentatively priced at (Click on picture for enlarged details)

77-7. Early
Capital Cuff Box Early Style "A". All of the Capitol Cuff
Boxes are very scarce, having been made for only a short period
by the F.G. Otto Company. This style, which is the earliest of
models made, is the scarcest and most decorative mechanically.
Has the unusual coil spring drive with a very decorative
tri-corner casting. This is currently being restored, and should
be exceptionally nice when done. With six cuffs. |
